đș Wolfpack Wednesday: Beating the Holiday Blues
Share
The holidays hit different when you're a veteran.
Some years feel loud and full.
Some years feel quiet⊠too quiet.
Â
For a lot of veterans, the holiday season isnât joy and celebration â itâs pressure, memories, missing friends who arenât here anymore, or just feeling out of place around people who donât understand whatâs going on inside.
Â
If thatâs you this year, hear this clearly:
Youâre not broken.
Youâre not weak.
Youâre not alone.
Â
The âholiday bluesâ are real.
Isolation is real.
Comparing your life to everyone elseâs highlight reel online is real.
Â
But so is the strength you built through every season you survived â overseas and at home.
Â
This weekâs message is simple:
Donât disappear.
Donât withdraw.
Reach out â even if itâs awkward.
Even if all you say is, âHey man, you good?â
Â
Call a battle buddy.
Text someone who used to check on you.
Show up at a Vet Center event.
Invite another veteran out for coffee â even if you donât feel like it.
Â
Because loneliness grows in the darkâŠ
but it dies the second you crack the door open.
Â
If youâre fighting depression or heavy thoughts, here are real resources that help:
đ Veterans Crisis Line: Dial 988, then press 1
đ Vet Centers (free, no appointment): https://www.vetcenter.va.gov
đ VA Mental Health Resources: https://www.mentalhealth.va.gov
Â
And if youâre doing well this season, donât forget the veteran who isnât.
Check on your people.
One message can literally turn someoneâs whole week around.
Â
At Alpha VI, we donât pretend to be a giant organization with all the answers.
Weâre just veterans trying to help other veterans feel seen â especially when it feels like the world is celebrating without you.
You matter.
Youâre needed.
And the Pack is here â holidays included.
