đŸș Wolfpack Wednesday: Beating the Holiday Blues

The holidays hit different when you're a veteran.
Some years feel loud and full.
Some years feel quiet
 too quiet.

For a lot of veterans, the holiday season isn’t joy and celebration — it’s pressure, memories, missing friends who aren’t here anymore, or just feeling out of place around people who don’t understand what’s going on inside.

If that’s you this year, hear this clearly:

You’re not broken.
You’re not weak.
You’re not alone.

The “holiday blues” are real.
Isolation is real.
Comparing your life to everyone else’s highlight reel online is real.

But so is the strength you built through every season you survived — overseas and at home.

This week’s message is simple:

Don’t disappear.
Don’t withdraw.
Reach out — even if it’s awkward.
Even if all you say is, “Hey man, you good?”

Call a battle buddy.
Text someone who used to check on you.
Show up at a Vet Center event.
Invite another veteran out for coffee — even if you don’t feel like it.

Because loneliness grows in the dark

but it dies the second you crack the door open.

If you’re fighting depression or heavy thoughts, here are real resources that help:

👉 Veterans Crisis Line: Dial 988, then press 1
👉 Vet Centers (free, no appointment): https://www.vetcenter.va.gov
👉 VA Mental Health Resources: https://www.mentalhealth.va.gov

And if you’re doing well this season, don’t forget the veteran who isn’t.
Check on your people.
One message can literally turn someone’s whole week around.

At Alpha VI, we don’t pretend to be a giant organization with all the answers.
We’re just veterans trying to help other veterans feel seen — especially when it feels like the world is celebrating without you.

You matter.
You’re needed.
And the Pack is here — holidays included.
