Happy Father's Day to the Father of Fathers

Everyone remembered their dad today. Cards were signed, phones were called, grills were fired up, and Instagram was full of throwback photos. All of that is right and good.

But I wonder how many of us remembered the Father of Fathers.

The one who was a father before fatherhood existed. The one who designed the concept of a father, set the standard for what a father looks like, and then watched every human version fall short of it and loved us anyway.

He is the Father who never missed a game. Never came home too tired to listen. Never let work become more important than the relationship. Never needed you to perform to earn His approval. Never walked out. Never gave up. Never stopped.

He is the Father who disciplines not because He is angry but because He is invested. The Father who allows hard seasons not because He is absent but because He is preparing you. The Father who says no to some prayers not because He does not care but because He can see what you cannot.

If your earthly father was everything he should have been, praise God and tell him today.

If your earthly father fell short, and most of them did in some way because they were human, know that there is a Father who never has and never will.

Today is Father's Day.

Do not forget the Father of Fathers.
